More women are facing debt problems
More women are facing debt problems
The double dip recession combined with the government austerity cuts has led to serious unemployment levels across Scotland. As the level of unemployment rises, so do personal debt levels, as more people start to rely on credit to cover their expenses.

Parenting website, Netmums, recently conducted a survey which found that more women are facing debt problems whilst trying to support their family. The research involved some 2000 women with children and provided some unexpected results.

Out of those taking part, six in ten said that they did not have enough income to make it to the end of the week. A similar amount of women also said that their household income had taken a significant nosedive over the past year.

Household incomes in Scotland and the rest of the UK have been on the decline as job losses, pay freezes and less working hours take their toll. As income has decreased the cost of living has continued to rise. Inflation is now just below 3% but earlier in the year it hit record highs and households began to crumble under the financial pressure.

Those families without enough income to cover their debts and household bills have been making huge sacrifices for their family. 20% of the mothers taking part in the survey said that they had missed meals to ensure their children were provided for and expenses covered.

People that are regularly finding themselves in this type of situation and feel that they are unable to change it should seriously consider a Trust Deed. This type of debt solution is by no means the easy way out, it is simply designed to provides parents and families in similar situations with a little relief.

Trust Deeds can help mothers manage their debt and get their finances back on track so that they can provide for their family and support their own lifestyle. It is absolutely essential that all households are able to put food on the table, cover their household expenses and keep some money to one side for emergencies.

When entering a Trust Deed all of these important outgoings will be considered and you will only be required to pay an affordable monthly payment. Once your trust deed is protected you should be able to live more freely, be able to cover your outgoings and not have to worry about feeding yourself or your children.

Don’t delay taking action because you believe that ‘things can only get better’. The truth is that the current economic climate isn’t going to change any time soon so it is important that you try to regain control of your debt and personal finances before things get any worse.

Parents that have missed debt repayments may be receiving reminder letters or phone calls threatening legal action. This can cause further stress and lead to an even tougher situation. A trust deed will protect families from this kind of behaviour as your trust deed IP will handle creditors on your behalf.

Contact a debt help expert as soon as possible if your situations sound anything like those described above.
