(openPR) - Huntington, VT – June 22, 2007 - Ann Zuccardy, owner of Vermont Shortbread Company, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Vermont Specialty Food Association for a two-year term.
The Vermont Specialty Food Association is the nation’s oldest and most highly regarded specialty food association and became a model for many other states’ associations. The VSFA is a non-profit organization made up of small to large Vermont-based food businesses who share the philosophy of providing high quality, innovative specialty foods made with a distinctive personal touch. VSFA membership consists of over 100 Vermont specialty food producers.
One of the most valuable benefits of the association is the connection to other Vermont specialty food companies. Through their mentoring program, they connect business owners with each other to share knowledge and experiences.
Zuccardy founded Vermont Shortbread Company in 1996. Zuccardy says, “Vermont is nationally acclaimed for its high quality specialty foods. Like many Vermonters, I developed my food business during my spare time while working a conventional job by day. I’m fortunate to be in business at a time when the internet allows me to market my products worldwide. I am passionate about supporting and drawing attention to other aspiring Vermont food producers through internet marketing.”
Zuccardy is a former technical writer with twenty years of experience working with other Vermont companies such as IBM, Hill Associates, and Country Home Products. She is on the board of Childcare Resource, a non-profit resource for parents, educators and employers.
