Hillsides H100 Volunteer Group Hosts Farm to Table Dinner
Press release from: Hillsides

Karen Tanji, Hillsides Board Chair, Scott Steuber, H100 President and Phaedra Ledbetter, Hillsides Board Member
Alexandra Poer Sheridan of Alexandra's Table created a feast incorporating many of the fruits, vegetables and herbs available to her from the estate’s garden, as well as sourcing local ranches for fresh, grass fed meats. During the cocktail hour, hand passed hors d’oeuvres were paired with refreshing libations.
Guests then savored the first course consisting of honey-roasted apricots, Soledad Farms goat cheese, marcona almonds and arugula; Panzanella salad with Valdivia Farms tomatoes; Suncoast Farms grilled artichokes, lemon-wholegrain mustard aioli; and paired with Origine Sauvignon Blanc 2011 Russian River Valley. The main course was grilled hanger steaks, Ledbetter Garden Italian salsa verde; Jennifer Little’s grape leaves, local halibut and oregano pesto; Suncoast Farms scarlett runner beans, basil and pickled shallots; grilled asparagus, brown butter-aged sherry vinaigrette; Melissa’s fingerlings with garlic and mint; and paired with Jackhammer Pinot Noir 2010 Central Coast.
The feast continued with a sweet course of mixed berry and apple rustic tarts, mini chocolate pots de crème, citrus short bread, grapefruit granite and Ledbetter Garden citrus curd.
Wine sponsors were Everson Royce, Don and Sally Clark of Onx Winery, Lauralyn Deringer, April and Kelly Johnson, Scott and Rachel Steuber, and Jeff and Amanda Welch.
H100 is a philanthropic support group of Hillsides, a premier provider dedicated to improving the overall well-being and functioning of vulnerable children and families in Southern California. For the past 99 years, Hillsides has been helping children and families realize meaningful and quality lives after experiencing severely traumatic beginnings. H100 was created to ensure Hillsides is able to continue to meet the needs of our society's most vulnerable members for the next 100 years.
In keeping with Hillsides Farm to Table theme of supporting and sustaining the local community, a lemon “giving tree” was set up to feature the needs and wishes of the students at Hillsides Education Center. These necessities vary from school supplies to underwriting a summer outing.
“This event was a delightful way to welcome the summer and learn more about Hillsides,” said Joseph M. Costa, Hillsides chief executive officer. “H100 is a group dedicated to becoming the next leaders for Hillsides as we turn the corner and celebrate a hundred years.”
