Franklin Hot Hitters Joey Votto And Paul Konerko Among League Leaders In Batting Races
Press release from: Franklin Sports
PR Agency: Cirillo World
In the 30th anniversary season of the batting glove, a pair of Franklin hot hitting first sackers are hovering around the top of the batting races in both the National and American Leagues. Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds, batting a blistering .355 through Monday’s game, trails David Wright of the Mets (.358) by only three percentage points in the N.L., while White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko (.337) is just a point behind Mike Trout of the Angels (.338) in the A.L.
Franklin, which pioneered the batting glove in 1982 with the late company founder Irving Franklin and Phillies third baseman Mike Schmidt spearheading the effort, is the “Official Batting Glove of Major League Baseball.”
More Franklin Leaders: The San Francisco Giants Melky Cabrera, the N.L. leader earlier in the campaign, ranks fourth at .351, while Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers, who joined the Four-Home-Runs-in-a Single-Game-Club on May 8, ranks fifth in the A.L. at .318.
Franklin .300 Club: Along with the four previously mentioned players, here are Franklin’s .300 hitters in 2012: NL – Arizona Diamondbacks, Lyle Overbay, .347; Milwaukee Brewers, Jonathan Lucroy, .344; St. Louis Cardinals, Yadier Molina, .324; New York Mets, Mike Baxter, .323; Ruben Tejada, .312; Atlanta Brave, Martin Prado, .308; Washington Nationals, Tyler Moore, .308; Houston Astros, .300; A.L.— Detroit Tigers, Miguel Cabrera, .313; Baltimore Orioles, Nolan Reimold, .313; Detroit Tigers, Prince Fielder, .304, Kansas City Royals, Billy Butler, .303, Cleveland Indians, Asdrubal Cabrera, .301.
