LCCC Offers High-Demand Industry Training through Grant

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is a member in a consortium of 14 community colleges that are offering key training for high-demand industry sectors throughout the state. Through a $20 million statewide Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training (TAACCCT) grant, a system of state-wide standardized core competencies are being developed to prepare participants for employment in high-wage, high-skill occupations. The program utilizes stackable non-credit certifications to build the credentials and skills necessary for career readiness for high demand industry. Participants in the TAAACCT program received intensive case management with a Career Coach from program entry to job obtainment.
Courses in manufacturing and logistics, green energy, and healthcare IT will be offered to those seeking accelerated training for entry-level employment. Qualifications will allow students to learn basic skills that are portable and in high demand in today's employment market. Participants have an option to transition from certificate completion to associate degree programs in each the manufacturing and healthcare IT pathways.
An Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics Training Program provides stackable credentials in areas that meet the regional needs for higher skill levels in production, industrial maintenance, machining, and logistics. Courses will combine classroom activity and online instructional modules as well as hands-on applications of trade-specific skills to insure student success.
Green Energy Training Program provides students with the energy conservation skills related to home energy auditing and geothermal heating/cooling systems. Working with regional employers, LCCC will use stackable credentials to prepare the student in an expedited format.
LCCC will offer two types of Healthcare Information Technology Training Programs. Healthcare Core Curriculum, an introductory noncredit online modularized curriculum, will prepare students to transition to a healthcare-related program, whereas Healthcare Technology Specialist, a noncredit program, will prepare students to work in information technology in the healthcare field.
