MELECS EWS celebrates its 10th Anniversary
Press release from: Melecs
PR Agency: Redaktionsbüro Consee
The largest independent Austrian EMS strengthens its commitment to the business location Austria
Vienna, June 20th, 2012 – MELECS EWS, the largest independent Austrian EMS, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Additionally, MELECS won the largest order of its company history. To strengthen the strong market position and innovation, MELECS is investing massively in R&D.
The MELECS Elektronikwerk Siegendorf (EWS) is part of the MELECS Group which started successfully in 2009 after it was founded through a MBO from Siemens Austria. With revenue of 113 Million Euro the company is the largest EMS provider with Austrian origins. 10 years ago the plant in Siegsdorf (Burgenland) started with the production. In order to meet the growing demand, MELECS EWS opened a subsidiary in Györ/Hungary.
Anniversary year with largest order placement of the company history
In June MELECS EWS will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Siegendorf site together with employees, partners and politicians. Additionally, in the first quarter of this year MELECS won the largest order placement of its company history with a prestigious automotive contract from the USA. With this, MELECS EWS demonstrates clearly its strong R&D competence and export strength just three years after the company's inception.
MELECS COO & Managing Director of EWS, Bernhard Pulferer, is convinced that the strong commitment to the Austrian Business Location is the basis of success: “The conveniently accessible location of our production sites in Central Europe, together with our employees’ high level of education, guarantees competitive conditions for your projects. This is evidenced also by the extremely high export quota of our business activities. Last year we achieved far more than 90 percent of turnover with customers outside Austria.”
Massive investments in R&D
The strong focus on R&D contributes to the business's success. Last year the EMS specialist MELECS has developed a solution to dissipate heat from electronic modules. The thermal management construction allows the use of FR4 laminates together with high-brightness LEDs in headlamps by utilizing proprietary steel clamps. This solution is a cheaper and equally reliable alternative to commonly used insulated metal substrates (IMS) PCB technology. Thus, FR4 with a copper bottom has the potential to replace insulated metal substrates at least in non-critical systems.
MELECS has also strengthened its R&D efforts with the preliminary development of a four-wheel transmission control system: The aim was to avoid lengthy hydraulic and power cables and to ease the communication between the four-wheel ECU and the actor, or at least to allow a direct connection to an automotive bus. The Tiny ECU with its battery connector is a satellite bus mounted close to the actor. It communicates with the four-wheel ECU by PWM signals, LIN or CAN bus.
In order to continuously extend its strong international market position, MELECS is focussing on its R&D department. More than 30 additional engineers have been included to the team. This way, MELECS ensures development of innovative and customized solutions and the successful processing of existing orders.
