Noted Author Douglas Brinkley to Speak At Dallas Bar Association
Press release from: Dallas Bar Association
Douglas Brinkley, professor of history at Rice University and contributing editor at Vanity Fair will be at the Belo Mansion on Wednesday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. to speak on his new book Cronkite. The event, sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association and the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Ft. Worth, is open to the public.
Cronkite’s biography has been much anticipated since his death in 2009, and Douglas Brinkley is sure not to disappoint. Legendary CBS anchorman, Walter Cronkite, was more than just a household name; he was the most trusted man in America. One of the original creators of CBS evening news, Cronkite anchored the world’s top stories for nearly two decades. His was the voice that told America that JFK had been assassinated, that a man landed on the moon and that Nixon resigned. Join us on June 13 to hear about Brinkley’s journey to find the real Walter Cronkite, from his Texas roots all the way to his status as an eternal media icon.
The Chicago Tribune has dubbed Mr. Brinkley “America’s new past master.” Six of his books have been selected as New York Times Notable Books of the Year. His most recent book, The Great Deluge, won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award. He lives in Texas with his wife and three children.
Reserve now. Seating is limited. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased online at www.dfwworld.org under the “Calendar of Events” page.
For questions about the event, please contact Jocelyn Lancaster at (214) 965-8400.
