Kögel LongPlex: The alternative to the long truck
Press release from: Kögel Trailer GmbH & Co. KG
Burtenbach, 30th May 2012
Perfect for use in combined traffic
Can take two 7.45 meter swap bodies
Can be used without participation in or after the field trial
Kögel reengineers the LongPlex for the IAA commercial vehicles 2012. This means that the semi-trailer suitable for the field trial for innovative commercial vehicle designs can be used even more flexibly. 50 kilograms lighter and when retracted, 200 millimetres shorter than its predecessor, it optimally deals with all the requirements made of it by container and swap body traffic. The trailer can be extended by 1.3 m using the convenient rear extension, thus providing the length required for carrying two 7.45 meter long swap bodies.
Flexible application - even in combined traffic
The reengineered Kögel LongPlex is ideal for use in combined traffic and is thus suitable for the field trial for innovative commercial vehicles. The LongPlex can be used flexibly as a result of its rear extension: When extended, it can either be used to transport two swap bodies EN/BDF C715 / C745 or two 20 foot containers. Of course, the LongPlex when extended meets the requirements of both the German regulation "BO-Kraftkreis" which limits the turning radius as well as all other safety requirements. When retracted, it can transport one 20 foot container or now for the first time, it can also transport a 40 foot container. This means that nothing stands in its way of being used either without participating in or after the field trial.
Innovative, efficient and environmentally friendly transport solution
The Kögel LongPlex is the innovative answer to the strong demand from many customers and transport associations, such as the BGL, for a trailer that will transport two swap bodies. The Kögel LongPlex reduces the transport costs, saves fuel, reduces the CO2 emissions and increases the efficiency of the transport companies, because significantly more payload can be transported in a single journey.
Simple Handling
In day-to-day use, the Kögel LongPlex is characterised by its simple handling. For example, the front swap body can be transported rotated about its vertical axis. The positive effect: there is adequate space for "manouvering" during loading. Mounting the swap bodies on the trailer is possible using market tried and tested methods.
Technical data
- permissible trailer load: 12,500 kg
- permissible total weight: 39,500 kg
- empty weight: approx. 5,350 kg
- retracted length: 13,113 mm
- extended length: 14,494 mm
The reengineered Kögel LongPlex will be available in Autumn 2012.
Kögel, a brand steeped in more than 75 years of tradition, has earned itself a leading position throughout Europe and is now back in the limelight with renewed energy and an unmistakable blend of experience and expertise. Kögel has reinvented itself - by recalling its fortes which has made the company grow in the past. Passion for transport. Quality characterised by engineering expertise. Innovation which deserves the name because it provides relevant benefit to customers. Apart from the products for the forwarding industry, there are now models for the construction industry, an area which Kögel has been active in for some time now.
