Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina assisted with the Voices Against Violence Charleston SC Refurbishing Project on Saturday April 14th, 2012 at a domestic violence shelter located in the Charleston area. The project was through the Young Lawyers Division of The South Carolina Bar and featured help, tools, and donations from local area lawyers and law firms. The goal of the refurbishing project was to help beautify, clean, and improve the domestic violence shelter by landscaping, planting flowers and plants, and cleaning and tidying the outside of the shelter.

The shelter allows women and children that are victims of abuse in the home to get away and move into a place that allows them room to improve their situations. The project by the Young Lawyers Division helped to make the shelter more pleasant by beautifying the perimeter of the shelter including the play area for the children. Attorney Guthrie was able to help by doing landscaping around the playground and helping to plant flowers around the garden area. Mr. Guthrie was glad to be able to help improve the shelter and help those that are going through a difficult period in their lives. Attorney Guthrie was able to enjoy helping out the shelter and spend time in service to the community with fellow local lawyers. Mr Guthrie looked forward to being able to help out the YLD Voices Against Violence project again in the upcoming year.
