Bright Health Physicians Achieves Elite Status in 2012 Standards of Excellence Survey
Press release from: Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital
Bright Health Physicians was one of 30 California physician groups to receive this designation by the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG)
On Friday, May 18, 2012, the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) recognized Bright Health Physicians for earning Elite Status in the 2012 Standards of Excellence survey. Bright Health Physicians was one of 30 physician groups in the state of California to achieve Elite Status. CAPG made the announcement at the CAPG Healthcare Conference in Palm Desert, Calif.
Elite status is achieved by surpassing stiff, peer-defined benchmarks in all four of the survey categories: Care Management, Health IT, Accountability/Transparency and Patient Centered Care.
“We’re honored to be recognized by our peers for our continued dedication in providing our patients with superior healthcare while adhering to the highest standards,” said President of Bright Health Physicians William H. Stimmler, MD. “Together with Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH), our medical group has been able to provide our community a central medical home for their healthcare needs.”
CAPG designed the annual Standards of Excellence survey to assess the capabilities of accountable healthcare organizations to accomplish the threefold goal of population health, individual patient experience and affordability. The 2012 review process included augmented documentation requirements and expanded transparency to incorporate the ambitious goals of national healthcare reform.
“Bright Health Physicians’ achievement of Elite recognition was the direct result of years of steady commitment to both quality and community,” said CAPG Medical Director Wells Shoemaker, MD. “They are one of the leaders raising our hopes and expectations for American healthcare.”
The Standards of Excellence survey is the first known voluntary large scale, critical self-assessment for medical groups in the United States. CAPG conducts the survey annually among its 150 member physician groups. To view the survey results visit, www.capg.org/home/index.asp?page=274.
