MACS Software adds e-customs® for bonded stores

MACS Software, provider of industry leading warehouse management software is partnering with e-customs®, the UK’s leading web-based custom clearance consultancy, to create a best of breed integrated solution for warehouse management and customs clearance. The addition of e-customs® products such as Webware for dry goods and Wetware for excise goods – e.g. alcoholic drinks - into the MACS Software products portfolio will allow MACS’ customers to manage bonded
stores using a system that is perfectly integrated with their existing WMS.

e-customs® is part of the Bell Davies Group whose managing director Alun Davies explained that his company’s system has been available for around 15 years and is widely regarded as the industry standard for the management of bonded stores. “Unlike many other systems ours operates online,” he explained. “This means that when HMRC changes tariffs and codes we can update the back office systems of all our customers automatically.” This is a vast improvement compared with an installed system, still employed by many providers, that requires updates to be entered manually whenever changes occur.

The above e-customs® warehousing products are used by companies who import goods and wish to defer the payment of import tax and VAT until they are sold. This is particularly important for companies with a large stockholding or those engaged in a seasonal business, for example those importing goods in advance of Christmas sales. The system communicates with HMRC to provide all the information necessary, complete with full audit trail, with very little effort from the importing company. The warehousing side of things is just a single part within the full range of declaration services offered to importers and exporters by e-customs®.
