Containment for highly potent APIs
Press release from: GEA Pharma Systems
PR Agency: The Words Workshop
This year the GEA Pharma Systems stand at ACHEMA will include the company’s wide range of specialist equipment for processing highly potent compounds providing the highest yields and levels of operator and environmental protection available.
Courtoy™ MODUL™ tablet press
Centre stage on the stand will be the unique Courtoy™ MODUL™ tablet press with its Exchange Compression Module (ECM) that contains all the product-contact components within a sealed central core that can be removed for cleaning and replaced in just 30 minutes. Since their introduction the MODUL™ machines have revolutionised the manufacture of highly potent solid dosage forms. They have banished the need for operators to wear uncomfortable, cumbersome protective suits and opened up new possibilities for companies that work with increasingly toxic materials.
Contained processing
The theme of contained processing will continue with the UltimaPro™ 10 Single Pot Processor demonstrating its ability to process small batches of highly potent active ingredients - including mixing, granulation and drying - in a single machine. It is designed for production of low-volume clinical or commercial drugs such as oncology products. The technology is especially suitable for products with organic solvents, allows for changeovers in less than two hours, and is capable of processing effervescents and all high potent pharmaceuticals in the most productive way available in the industry.
Also on display is a complete small scale granulation line that shows the process from dispensed raw materials to finished tablet. The system on show demonstrates the entire process – including high shear granulation, pelletization and blending, etc. - and features the award-winning Lighthouse Probe ™ that prevents product sticking to observation windows of the process analyser and thus creating false readings.
Product transfer and valve technology
Examples of both rigid and disposable product transfer technology offering containment down to low nanogram levels will be on display. These options include: the disposable Hicoflex® system with significantly lower capital and running costs compared with rigid IBC technology and rapid product changeover for improved plant utilization; the unique, modular Buck® MC valve with its simple design that enables complete container-to-container transfer flexibility; and the Buck® TC Valve, the highest performing split valve available in the market place. By introducing a wash step prior to valve separation, the Buck® TC Valve is capable of performance to the low nanogram level.
GEA Pharma Systems will have experienced technical and sales staff available on the stand throughout the show – Hall 4, Stand F44.
GEA Pharma Systems unites the technologies of Aeromatic-Fielder™, Buck™, Collette™, Courtoy™, Diessel™, and Lyophil™ to provide advanced one-stop solutions for solid and liquid dosage processing to the global pharmaceutical industry.
