Vishwa Kavi Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti at JMA Pilani Rajasthan
Press release from: JMA Pilani Rajasthan
In the words of Gurudev “The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence.” Well before the era of Internet, Google+, Twitter, Facebook etal, Tagore had talked about the globalized world linked by thoughts and cultures.
Established in the year, 2004 Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy – JMA which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education derives its inspiration from the quote “Information is just bits of data while knowledge is putting them together and wisdom is transcending them.” JMA which is one among the most sought after and top ranking schools in Pilani, has a rich tradition of celebrating various events of not only national importance like Republic Day, Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, National Science Day, National Education Day, Children’s Day etc but also of international importance such as World Health Day, International Women’s Day, World water Day, World Sparrow day, World Sight Day, Grand Parents Day, Earth Day etc.
Nobel Laureate Tagore (07 May 1861 – 07 August 1941) is a Poet, Novelist, Musician, Painter, social reformer, Playwright and freedom fighter all rolled in one. However, it has been a tradition to observe Rabindra Jayanti always on Pochishe Boishakh (Twenty fifth day in the Month of Baisakh) and for the year 2012 with Poila Baishak falling on 14 April, Pochishe is on 08 May 2012.
No one has doubt that all the works of Gurudev Tagore have universal appeal, even though much of his writings was in Bengali. Tagore has the distinction having penned the National Anthem of India "Jana Gana Mana" as well as that of Bangladesh "Amar Sonar Bangla". The temple of education “Visva Bharati” founded by Tagore at Santiniketan in Paschimbanga (formerly West Bengal) is a world famous university and the Government of India as a part of 150th birthday celebrations has announced a special grant of Rs 150/- crores for reviving and restoring its glory.
As part of the celebrations, the GOI also has established a Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony carrying an amount of Rs. One Crore, a Citation in a Scroll, a Plaque as well as an exquisite traditional handicraft/handloom item for promoting values of Universal Brotherhood. It is indeed a matter of pride that Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar will be the first recipient of this award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cultural harmony and universal values.
On 08 May 2012, Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan triggered the Rabindra Jayanti celebrations at JMA Pilani with the singing of Tagore’s famous song Ekla Chalo Re followed by recitation of the lines from Gitanjali “This is my prayer to thee, my lord- strike, strike at the root of penury in my heart …..” Addressing the students of the school, she explained the significance of the day by sharing the above details and urged the teachers to take inspiration from the famous quote “Don't limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.”

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
Even with 16 years of experience one discovers new things from time to time.
Congratulations!
