The Crystal Award bases on the strict regulations of the Hazard Analyses Critical Control Point System (HACCP). The prize is recognition of those hotels that made an extra effort to provide their guests with a safe environment in which to enjoy their vacation.
The Crystal Award is presented by Check Safety First, a British company with twenty years experience in the field of hygiene. Check Safety First audits hotels on a frequent, often monthly, basis on their safety and health practices and procedures. The hotel is subjected to over 250 control points, by a professional auditor on site, which must be answered positively to receive their recommendation.
