Successful TÜV audit verifies quality management standard.

ISO certification to kick off the third fiscal year – an achievement to be proud of. The Cologne-based automotive vehicle integrator rational motion successfully implemented the same demanding quality and efficiency standards it applies to its products and services in its internal structures and the company itself as well: on April 13 2012, the world-renowned inspection and certification agency TÜV Rheinland officially affirmed that rational motion fulfills the internationally recognized ISO 9001:2008 quality management (QM) standard for “engineering services for powertrain development and electrification, control systems and vehicle integration”.

The QM certification process with all optimizations of business processes and internal structures, complete end-to-end documentation of all areas, the entire auditing preparations and the audits themselves were ongoing concurrently with day-to-day business from autumn 2011. Certainly nothing unusual in principle. However, anyone who has followed the steep trajectory of rational motion GmbH over the past two years will understand what having to embed a QM standard in the enterprise almost “in passing” must have meant. This achievement, performed while realizing projects at the leading edge of technology under the performance and time pressure characteristic of the automotive industry, represents a tour de force for the hardworking engineers and programmers in Cologne.

“Something like this is never easy. It wasn’t a walk in the park, but we did it,” affirms Robert Marusic, Managing Director of rational motion GmbH. “For us, the rigorous inspection of our internal organization and its optimization were and are an essential prerequisite that will enable us to optimally meet the challenges presented by our customers and partners going forward. In that respect: the sooner the better for our market positioning.”

Fulfilling the EN ISO 9001:2008 standard, along with implementation of the resulting process developments for the enterprise itself, is naturally a strong signal to the industry. For a globally active enterprise, this ISO standard represents a recognized toolbox for fundamentally assessing and ensuring quality, and is frequently demanded by both customers and partners: an internationally established quality seal for enterprise performance capability.
