24 hour emergency veterinary hospital, the Southern Animal Referral Centre, recently welcomed back Dr Chris Simpson after he completed a two year residency program in small animal internal medicine.

Dr Chris Simpson has recently returned to the Southern Animal Referral Centre after completing his two year ANZCVS approved small animal internal medicine training program. Dr Simpson has resumed his position as head veterinarian at the 24 hour veterinary hospital and is intending to sit Fellowship exams within the next two years.

Manager Mark Amott commented “The return of a residency trained head veterinarian means that both pet emergency and routine medicine cases will benefit significantly from the most up-to-date training and techniques.”

This latest addition to the Southern Animal Referral Centre team means that both emergency and routine outpatient veterinary medicine services can again be offered. New offerings include chemotherapy, outpatient imaging (abdominal ultrasound, cardiac ultrasound, CT, digital radiography and endoscopy), routine consultation for workup or second opinion, as well as a courtesy advisory service for veterinarians wishing to gain further insight into medical cases.

The centre continues to offer fully staffed, 24 hour emergency and critical care services, which provide a perfect complement to the new on-site medical service.

About the Southern Animal Referral Centre: The Southern Animal Referral Centre (www.sarc.com.au) is a 24 hour veterinary emergency hospital and referral centre located in the south of Melbourne. The Centre caters for all companion animals and sees cases from across Melbourne and Victoria.
