Atlanta, GA – April 10th, 2012 – On Monday, April 9th, 2012, DMC Atlanta hosted its most ambitious blood drive to date. Partnering with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers and Buffalo Wild Wings, DMC Atlanta saved up to 60 lives in 4 hours. Each donation can save up to three lives and all are used in local hospitals in the South. Surgeries are commonly postponed on a Holiday weekend so DMC Atlanta held the event on the Monday after Easter, to compete with the increased demand. Answering the call were DMC Atlanta employees, friends, and family members who all came out for the great cause and to eat dinner while waiting their turn. Every person who donated was entered in a raffle to win a $100 Visa gift card.

DMC Atlanta has a long standing relationship with LifeSouth; since 2010 they have committed to donating enough blood to save a life a day. DMC Atlanta’s President, Adam Dorfman, and newly-promoted Assistant Manager, Kenyah Ferguson, coordinated the blood drive. Kenyah had this to say of the event, “We had a great turn out tonight; it’s awesome to see so many people here to support such a worthy cause. I think of how many local lives will be saved by all of the volunteers. I’m excited to plan our next blood drive!”

"I was terrified of needles and never gave blood until our first company blood drive in 2010," says Dorfman. "When I learned how critical the need is for blood and saw an interest from our people, I knew that I had to get over it. I couldn't allow something as small as my own personal fear to keep from getting involved. The is a great way for young people at the start of their careers to give back in a way that is truly life-changing without a major financial contribution."
