ASX Helped NewSat Attract Satellite Communications Funds
Press release from: NewSat
The 2012 ASX roadshow in New York and London was a great help in promoting NewSat's Jabiru space project to international financiers. NewSat has been very busy securing pre-launch contracts and credit funds for its first locally owned Ka band communications satellite - Jabiru-1.
Adrian Ballintine, the CEO of the satellite communications firm , has flown to New York and London to strike a deal with major international funds. He also met with satellite vendors in Washington DC. , particularly Lockheed Martin and Arianespace. Lockheed is the official contractor for the construction of Jabiru-1, while Arianespace was assigned the contract to launch the first Jabiru satellite.
Helping independent satellite operator win the trust of the creditor was the 2012 World Teleport Awards nomination. Ballintine said the award is an affirmation of NewSat's reputation as a world-class teleport operator. Being one of the top 3 teleport providers speaks a lot when there are nearly 1,700 teleport operators around the world, said the CEO. Ballintine attributed this achievement to the human resources employed by NewSat to run and maintain its Australian teleports.
According to Ballintine, NewSat was one of the smallest satellite communications company that participated in the 2012 ASX Emerging Growth Conference in London and New York, where almost 80% of the attendees specialize in resources industries. NewSat's presentations have left positive impressions on the fund management communities in New York and London. This has significantly improved the credit outlook of the Jabiru space program from the perspective of international lenders.
The event greatly improved the prospects of the Jabiru satellite communications program. Although Australia has a specialized knowledge of mineral resources industries, it still lacks the expertise demonstrated by leading satellite communications hubs. Ballintine said the event was a perfect opportunity to leverage the local expertise of Australia with international inputs. The signing of the satellite launch contract with Arienaspace at the 2012 Satellite Conference in Washington was also a milestone achievement for NewSat, said Ballintine.
