Walden Behavioral Care Partners with Assumption College To Offer Binge-Eating Disorder Presentation
Press release from: Walden Behavioral Care
PR Agency: Kowal Communications, Inc.
WORCESTER, Mass., April 3, 2012 – Walden Behavioral Care, LLC, one of the country’s leading hospitals for treating eating disorders, and Assumption College are co-sponsoring “Binge-Eating Disorder: Nutrition Therapy” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Assumption’s La Maison Auditorium, 500 Salisbury St.
The presentation will explore factors that lead to binge-eating disorder, with an emphasis on opportunities for nutrition education and intervention.
“Binge-Eating Disorder (BED) can be medically, psychologically and socially devastating,” said Kelly Stellato, the event’s featured speaker, and a registered dietician and licensed nutritionist at Walden Behavioral Care. “It is the most common and perhaps the least understood eating disorder.”
BED affects approximately two million Americans, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. The Institute also found that one in five young women report that they have had binge-eating problems, while men account for about 40% of binge-eating disorder cases.
The program is free or $25 for those seeking continuing education credits (CEUs). Registration will begin at 2:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Those who wish to register can do so online at www.waldenbehavioralcare.com or by contacting Katie FitzGerald at 781-647-2929 or kfitzgerald@waldenbehavioralcare.com. The deadline for registration is Monday, Apr. 30, 2012.
