LA CANADA PRESBYTERIACN CHURCH INVITES ALL TO EASTER, HOLY WEEK

03-30-2012 04:08 AM CET | Associations & Organizations

Press release from: La Canada Presbyterian Church

The triumph and joy of Christ’s resurrection will be celebrated by La Cañada Presbyterian Church in four services on Easter Sunday, April 8. The church will also have a full slate of Holy Week services.

An Easter sunrise service, led by LCPC’s Youth Ministry, will greet the sun at 6:30 a.m. at Hahamongna Park (Foothill Boulevard and Oak Grove Drive). Services will then be held at the church Sanctuary, 626 Foothill Blvd., at 7:55, 9:25 and 11 a.m., as the Rev. Dr. Gary Dennis recounts the story of the resurrection as told in the Gospel of Mark.
Family-friendly overflow will be offered in the Demarest Family Life Center, with coffee and pastries. After all three services at the church, attendees are invited to bring a flower to adorn the cross on the patio to commemorate a loved one.

Holy Week observances will include Palm Sunday services on April 1, as LCPC celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem in word and music. Services will be offered that morning at 7:55 and 9:25 in the Sanctuary, and at 11 a.m. for a contemporary praise service in the Worship Arts Center.

A Maundy Thursday Communion Service will commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples on April 5 at 7 p.m., featuring the LCPC Chancel Choir and soloists, under the direction of Jack Lantz, and a message by Pastor Dennis.

On Good Friday, April 6, the church’s Drama Ministry and Praise Band will collaborate for a stirring drama examining the crucifixion of Jesus, “Were You There?”

The community is invited to all of these observances. For further information, visit www.lacanadapc.org or call (818) 790-6708.

La Cañada Presbyterian Church (LCPC) began in 1948 with 158 members and a vision to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010 the church completed a campus expansion which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.
