Rhys Davies Freight Logistics Signs Contract to Deliver Carpets for Top Manufacturer Milliken
Press release from: Rhys Davies Freight Logistics
PR Agency: The Words Workshop
Transport specialist Rhys Davies Freight Logistics has signed a contract with leading manufacturer Milliken Industrials Limited to deliver carpet tiles and carpets throughout the UK. Milliken manufactures a wide range of flooring products for industrial use from its advanced manufacturing facility in Wigan north-west England.
Rhys Davies’ flexible approach to business was a key reason for Milliken’s decision to appoint the Cardiff-based company as its logistics partner. Milliken supplies carpet tiles to both the flooring trade and directly to commercial customers. This often means delivering out of hours so that contractors can work during the night to avoid disrupting the daily routine of the commercial areas.
Gary Phillips, Rhys Davies’s Commercial Manager said, “Most of Milliken’s deliveries are to businesses and contractors but they also require us to deliver directly to sites where overnight refits are being carried out and there is a specific time for the drop - usually after 5.00pm. This needs careful planning to achieve economically, but it’s an essential part of the overall contract and we’re happy to do it.”
Product is collected daily from the Milliken sites in Wigan and Middleton, and is supplemented by product stored at RDFL’s depot in Haydock. Orders are placed by Milliken via a two-way Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) link giving the management full visibility of stock levels and movements throughout the delivery process. Rhys Davies’s dedicated tracking system details how many pallets have been received and are in stock, which pallets are out for delivery and how many pallets are planned for delivery the next day. This enables the management at Milliken to respond quickly to any customer queries.
Rhys Davies’s involvement in the flooring and carpet industry began in 2004 when it stepped in to help Belgium-based Associated Weavers following the demise of its UK distribution company Carpet Express. The company now offers over 20 flooring companies the perfect solution, by holding and distributing flooring and carpets from its Birmingham, Cardiff, Haydock, London, Scotland and Wakefield depots to all parts of the United Kingdom.
More than just transport
Rhys Davies Freight Logistics is a national company headquartered in South Wales with nine depots throughout the United Kingdom. The company has clients across a wide range of industries including chemicals, carpets, building products and food.
