German Transport Minister Tiefensee opens transport logistic 2007
Press release from: Messe München
(openPR) - Germany´s Minister of Transport Wolfgang Tiefensee will officially open transport logistic 2007, the 11th International Trade Fair for Logistics, Telematics and Transport in Munich on 12 June 2007. In his opening address, he will comment on Germany´s new framework plan for investment in transport infrastructure through to 2010. Messe München also expects a range of other high-ranking international politicians to attend.
The Ministry of Transport´s new infrastructure plan envisages investment of over 25 billion euros in measures to improve the quality of the rail, road and waterways infrastructure. “We have to focus primarily on maintaining and improving the quality of the existing infrastructure. In this way we strengthen the economic value of our transport network. This investment plan aims to stop any further deterioration in the substance of the existing network and turn things round towards improving quality,” said Tiefensee. 57 billion euros are to be spent on expansion and new projects in the period from 2006 to 2010. For further information, go to www.bmvbs.de/en/-,2619/EU-Council-Presidency.htm
On the afternoon of 12 June 2007, day one of transport logistic 2007, high-ranking politicians will be touring the exhibition halls: among them Erwin Huber, Bavarian Minister of Economics, and Liv Signe Navarsete, Norwegian Minister of Transport.
Also attending the fair is the Czech Deputy Minister of Transport, Emanuel Sip. The Czech Republic will be presenting its current logistics projects carried out as part of the further development of the European infrastructure on 12 June (2 to 4 p.m., Conference Room C41). Misharin, is taking part in the Russia Day on 12 June (3.30 – 5.30 p.m., Forum I/Hall A4), where he will be talking about the globalisation of the Russian transport market and the importance of Russia as a transport corridor between east and west.
