(openPR) - Berlin – 29 May 2007. At the Berlin software company, semgine GmbH, the shareholder group comprising VC Fonds Berlin GmbH and private investors has subscribed for an increase in the equity capital. This increase in capital will enable the company to tackle the next step towards Web 3.0.
The capital increase will enable semgine GmbH to develop new technologies for the extraction of facts from the Internet and the compilation of completely novel fact collections. To do this, semgine GmbH will design semantic indexes for the Internet, from which vertical, subject-related, semantic search machines will be derived. In doing this, semgine GmbH is already preparing itself for Web 3.0, the core of which will be semantic indexes.
"Instead of the conventional list of links in response to a search question, our system will provide a structured report of relevant facts on the search terms," explains Dr Martin C. Hirsch, CEO of semgine GmbH. "lexiCollection® will enable us to radically change access to information on the Web."
"The creative and technological potential of semgine GmbH is extremely persuasive, so we are happy to support the development of innovative solutions which will secure the company’s competitive advantage and thus its continued growth," comments Lars Michalak, director of shareholder VC Fonds Berlin GmbH, on the capital increase.
"With the increasing glut of data in the world of science, but also on the Internet, there is an urgent need for intelligent search solutions which will enable information to be found quickly, simply and accurately. With its launch last week of semgine sciPlorer®, semgine GmbH has introduced a convincing solution to the market and added yet more strings to its bow," adds Professor Jochen Tschunke from EquityPlus GmbH.
