SYSGO’s new release PikeOS 3.3 expands functionality and support to new architectures

Embedded World, Nuremberg – February 28, 2012

SYSGO, leading supplier of embedded software solutions for the world’s most demanding safety and security applications, announces today the new 3.3 release of its flagship product PikeOS, which extends SMP and Linux support to new multi-core architectures, along with new certifiable file system, certifiable IP stack, performance improvements, and many enhancements in tools.

The new 3.3 release of PikeOS expands the scope of this SSV (Safe and Secure Virtualization) based RTOS product to new hardware platforms, new Guest OSs, and new functionality across existing features.

The most significant new items in this release include:
• New Android Personality on MIPS
• Linux Personality extended to MIPS and SPARC architectures
• Full support of MIPS32® (up to 74K® and further) platforms
• Certifiable IP Stack (for PikeOS Native and POSIX Personalities)
• Certifiable File System (for PikeOS Native and POSIX Personalities)
• Driver Development Kit
• Ethernet drivers performance improvements
• PCI manager for secure bus partitioning
• Numerous enhancements of CODEO IDE

“PikeOS continues to penetrate new markets and gain new customers”, said Jacques Brygier, VP Marketing of SYSGO. ”The concept of safe and secure embedded virtualization, introduced by SYSGO with PikeOS in 2005, has now become an industry standard. The 3.3 release shows SYSGO commitment in delivering useful features required by different industry sectors and demonstrates how flexible and scalable the product can be.”

The PikeOS product is used in various industry segments such as avionics, defense, space, railway, industrial, automotive, medical and security in general. The design, implementation and testing processes used for its development make it certifiable to highest levels of security and safety standards for all industries, including DO-178B/C, IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304, ISO 26262 and Common Criteria’s EAL.

Availability
The PikeOS 3.3 release is available in April 2012.

About PikeOS
PikeOS is an RTOS built upon the Safe and Secure Virtualization (SSV) technology that enables multiple operating system interfaces, called Personalities, to work on separate sets of resources within a single machine. PikeOS has the largest range of supported Personalities of the market, including PikeOS Native, ARINC 653, Linux, POSIX, Certified POSIX, Android, RTEMS, and many others (for example an AUTOSAR Personality is available through our partner OpenSynergy). The PikeOS microkernel architecture allows it to be used in cost sensitive, resource constrained devices as well as large, complex systems. The simplicity and compactness of the PikeOS design results in real-time performance that competes head-to-head with conventional proprietary RTOS solutions. PikeOS supports many different single- and multi-core processor architectures such as x86, PowerPC, MIPS, ARM, SPARC/LEON or SH. Support of multi-core offers a flexible approach to the user who can select an execution model ranging from a pure AMP (Asymmetric Multi Processing) to full SMP (Symmetric Multi Processing). PikeOS is certifiable to safety standards like DO-178B/C, IEC 61508, EN 50128 or ISO 26262, is MILS compliant, and is currently involved in various security standard CC EAL certification projects.
