NewSat Signed In More Middle East and Australasian Clients

Press release from: NewSat
(openPR) - Australia's independent satellite service provider, NewSat, welcomed year 2012 with a heap of satellite contracts from mining, energy, construction, aviation and government sectors. The deals, worth $AU7.5 million in total, include the delivery of satellite communications and teleport services in the Middle East and Australasian regions.

The contracts include the provision of communications and teleport facilities for various projects like the North-West Shelf Wheatstone Project and Gorgon Projects off the Western Australia coast. Other clients include an engineering and construction company and US government personnel deployed in the Middle East.

The Middle East contract further boosts the company’s image as a provider of secure and reliable satellite services for government institutions. The Australian Department of Defence is connected to the teleports of NewSat in Perth and Adelaide. The teleport facilities have very secure global access points and highly classified networks to ensure safe transmission of confidential data to government officials.

The new contracts signal growth trends for the independent satellite firm this year.
"This is outstanding revenue growth for the first half of the year, setting us up for a fantastic 2012," said CEO Adrian Ballintine. The new deals come as the company prepares for the construction of Jabiru-1 satellite. The Ka-band satellite will be NewSat’s first independently owned and operated satellite, giving the company the needed capacity to grow into a global independent satellite operator and a major satellite provider for Middle East markets.

Previous contracts involved major IT and telecommunications companies. Last year, NewSat signed in 3A Technology and US broadband provider TrustComm for satellite services worth $134 million and $105 million, respectively. Quicklink Communications also awarded a $40 million contract to NewSat to grow its Middle East operations. Before 2011 ended, the company had signed in a Middle Eastern telecommunication carrier. The contract is for the delivery of $US67 million worth of Ka-band capacity via the upcoming Jabiru-1.

The $AU7.5 million contracts this year are included in the company’s 2012 fiscal earnings.
