Nadrich & Cohen, LLP Joins DePuy Hip Litigation Consortium in Representing Victims Injured by Defective Metal Hips
Press release from: Nadrich & Cohen LLP
(openPR) - Prominent national law firm Nadrich & Cohen, LLP is now assisting patients with injury claims involving metal-on-metal DePuy hip replacement devices.
Los Angeles, CA, January 31, 2012 – National law firm Nadrich & Cohen, LLP has joined the national DePuy hip injury lawyer’s consortium in representing patients who sustained injuries caused by the company’s metal hip implants. The firm’s DePuy group has filed over 100 DePuy ASR injury claims in states across the country, including California, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The lawsuits allege that DePuy Orthopaedics, a division of the Johnson & Johnson Company, did not adequately test the safety of the ASR hip devices before seeking FDA approval. The plaintiffs also claim that the potential for serious complications outweighs the risks of the metal-on-metal artificial hips.
DePuy issued a voluntary recall of the ASR hips in 2010 after research studies indicated that the devices were potentially failing at a much higher rate than was expected. Numerous patients who were fitted with one of the ASR hips required additional revision surgery to correct problems associated with the defective metal implants.
Recent reports issued in the United Kingdom have suggested that approximately 49% of the devices will fail within 80 months. It’s believed that as many as 10,000 patients in the UK and another 15,000 in the United States could be affected by a failing DePuy hip.
Prominent attorney Jeffrey Nadrich believes that there are thousands of ASR recipients in California and throughout the U.S. who may not be aware of the recall or the potential for complications with their hip implant. Patients who suffered complications after receiving a DePuy metal hip implant are encouraged to complete a MedWatch form by visiting the Food and Drug Administration’s website.
Nadrich & Cohen LLP is offering confidential, no-cost consultations to patients across the country who believe they were harmed by a defective hip. Help is available by calling the firm’s injury hotline at 1-800-718-4658 or by completing an online case evaluation form at www.depuyhipreplacementlawyers.net.
Nadrich & Cohen LLP is a national law firm with offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego and other cities throughout California specializing in handling mass tort actions and representing individuals in cases involving pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers. The firm is committed to achieving the best outcome possible in every case and has recovered over $200 million in settlements on behalf of its clients.
In addition to handling DePuy and Zimmer hip claims, the firm is also investigating cases involving Accutane, Actos, Avandia, Fosamax, Paxil, Zoloft, Vaginal Mesh, Wright Conserve Hips, Yaz, Yasmin, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Benzene, Reflex Sympathy Dystrophy, Fen Phen and PPH, Depakote and Reglan.
