CeBIT 2012: CONTENS Presents the Intranet as a Social Workplace

Press release from: CONTENS Software GmbH

(openPR) - Munich, 01/30/2012 – At CeBIT 2012 (hall 6, stand J16), CONTENS is for the first time presenting an enterprise 2.0 solution for company intranets that combines all advantages of modern online networks. CONTENS Social Workplace offers an activity feed, profile administration, document management and communication functions together with a powerful search tool and is individually expandable.

Know what’s going on thanks to the activity feed

As central element of the Social Workplace, the activity feed informs a company’s employees about internal news, updates, profile changes and forum articles. Employees can quickly and easily post information on current events, ask questions, and provide documents or photos – just like on popular social networking sites.

Interfaces allow the integration of information from company-related external systems into the activity feed, for example, of automatically generated summaries on turnover and order intake. Articles and status changes can be filtered according to groups, contact status and type of content so that employees are only shown the information relevant to them.

Profiles become a pool of knowledge

CONTENS’ Social Workplace is an advanced and powerful information platform for employees and offers individually expandable user profiles. In addition to the master data, which may be integrated from existing systems, employees can also give information on their fields of expertise, professional experience or language skills.

At the same time, profiles can also reflect company-specific criteria, such as internal further training or regional knowledge. All content can be shared with personal contacts, certain groups or other degrees of separation as required. As a result, the employees’ profiles grow together, forming an invaluable pool of internal company knowledge.

Easy sharing of files

In addition to a modern way of distributing important information, CONTENS' Social Workplace also allows for a quick and convenient provision of documents, presentations, pictures or videos within an organization. Documents can be pulled into the browser via drag & drop and are then automatically uploaded. Using directories and tags, files can be structured according to personal requirements and shared with groups, individual users or other degrees of separation. Users can bookmark, comment on and rate the shared files.

Storable search agents

In order to facilitate access to content for employees, CONTENS’ Social Workplace provides a high-powered search function. The output of search results is sorted by content areas, such as messages, documents, forums, and specific social objects, e.g. products of the company. Persons are sorted according to whether they are direct or indirect contacts. Search settings can be saved so that users are automatically informed about new hits.

Social Workplace integrated into CMS

The Social Workplace is integrated seamlessly into CONTENS’ content management technology. It allows both editorial content of an intranet and content generated by the employees to be managed via the CONTENS browser backend.
