Vivid Racing’s Latest Project Car is the Porsche 997.2 Turbo

Press release from: Vivid Racing

The need to revamp an iconic Porsche started in 2005 for Vivid Racing. They picked up the 996 Carrera and supercharged it to the point of landing a spread in Total 911 magazine and cruising the country in Gumball 3000. Then VR took the 996 Turbo to the TX2K8 competition in Houston, Texas in 2008, watching it reach speeds of up to 150 mph. Next came the 997 Turbo that gained showcase status at SEMA in 2011.
Now the Porsche 997.2 Turbo S becomes the latest in the family of Porsche project cars at Vivid Racing. In 2010, Porsche went to a 3.8L Direct Fuel Injected engine, among other minor changes. Available in 6spd, they also enhanced the Tiptronic transmission to a 7spd dual clutch called PDK. Little engineering details were done, such as hydraulic computer controlled engine mounts, improved to a touch screen navigation unit with i-pod and bluetooth, and centerlock wheels were included to show they are not just for race cars.
There are also differences in the air intake, Y-pipe, TB/Plenum, headers, exhaust, and in some other little performance products. Having R&D’d products from a customer’s 2010 997.2TT and worked with Softronic to get top 60-130mph and 0-60mph numbers on one of the first 997.2 Turbo cars, VR searches for top recognition with this new Porsche.
The white 911 features PCCB (Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes), centerlock BBS wheels, PDK transmission, GT2RS carbon fiber seats, PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management), and more fine details. A couple of fun add-ons are 30 more horsepower from Porsche, carbon fiber airbox, and launch control.
Even with all this said, once it starts its reno journey, it can only get better.

Vivid Racing is a multi-million dollar small business in the automotive aftermarket industry. They have been featured in almost every magazine about their business and cars they have built. Rob and Dan have competed in 3 Gumball 3000 events, Bullrun Rally, and featured on ESPN2's "Import Racer" TV show. Vivid Racing has also built several demo cars including some for Pepsi/Mazda and Cusco/Subaru.
