Suraj Viswanathan Becomes Vice Chairmain and Iftikhar Khan Chairman of Bay Area Cricket Alliance

(openPR) - Bay Area Cricket Alliance (BACA) introduced the newly elected BACA Executives team which consists of Iftikhar Khan (Chairman), Suraj Viswanathan (Vice Chairman), Abrar Ahmad (Treasurer) and Alok Agarwal (League Monitoring Committee -Chairman) at the BACA Annual Awards Banquet 2011 on January 8, 2012 at Dosa Bawarchi in Milpitas, CA. Tribute was paid to the outgoing Chairman, Jaswinder Singh, and his team for doing a wonderful job for last three years to take BACA to new heights and increased its reach and growth in the bay area.
This was followed by distribution of 2011 achievement awards for BACA’s Summer League and the year-ending Knockout (KO) cup. SJ Demons and SJ Thunderbolts were crowned as the champions of the Summer League and the KO tournaments respectively, while Tracy United received the runners-up trophies for both events. Players of the winning teams were presented with individual awards along with the top performers in each of the following categories: Best Batsman and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Summer League were given to Barry Manogaran. Best Bowler award was achieved by Kuldeep Singh, while Romandeep Singh was declared the Best Fielder. For the post season Knock-Out cup, Jodhbir S. Sandhu (USA U-19 all-rounder) received the MVP award.
Special Achievement Awards were also presented to Durga Das, Erica Rendler, Akshatha Rao and Ritu Bhargava for their dedication and hard work in making it to the US National Women’s Team. Partha Patnaik was recognized for his outstanding services in the umpiring field. Loyal BACA supporters and sponsors also received plaques of gratitude for their encouragement of the league along with BACA presenting an appreciation plaque to the Mayor of Milpitas for his continued support for BACA and growth of cricket in the bay area California.
Another highlight of the event was signing of the Joint Venture contract between AwaazTV (subsidiary of Awaaz Productions, Inc.) and BACA for promotion of cricket through conducting special events/tournaments and TV Shows. AwaazTV will support BACA in growth and exposure of its players, members and sponsors in particular and cricket in the bay area in general, by providing a platform for recognition locally and nationally through paper media, radio, TV and internet media. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of AwaazTV, Dr. Fasi Khurram, stressed the value of such a strategic partnership and also launched ‘Pass the Bat’ campaign to introduce cricket at grass root level and initiate a fundraiser for development and promotion of the sport.
Established in 1999, Bay Area Cricket Alliance (BACA) has grown by leaps and bounds to become one of the best organized cricket leagues in the USA. Currently, there are more than 200 members playing in this League. BACA has been a member of the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) since year 2000. BACA promotes sport of cricket by organizing league tournaments and parallel activities for its members. It hosts and participates in Inter-League cricketing events by inviting teams from all over the USA and sends its representative teams to play in other states.
