AMS 4506 Wireless pressure transmitter

AMS 4506 Wireless pressure transmitter

AMSYS presents the barometric wireless pressure sensors of the AMS 4506 series in a small, compact and robust plastic housing (35 x 25 x 13.5 mm³). The wireless pressure sensor AMS 4506 from AMSYS is suitable for barometric pressure measurement and vacuum monitoring. The particular advantage of this wireless sensor is that it can be used in places that are difficult to access, such as wind turbines, in applications that are unsuitable for cable laying, such as machines with a rotary axis or in closed systems, containers and rooms, and the measured data can be retrieved from a distance via Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2.

Based on silicon pressure cell

The AMS 4506 wireless pressure sensors are based on a piezoresitive silicon pressure cell, an integrated temperature sensor, an evaluation circuit (ASIC) and a Bluetooth module. The ASIC enables the conversion of the piezoresitive effect into a DC voltage and digitizes the signal by an internal 24 bit ADC. In addition, the temperature is measured and digitized for temperature compensation. The Bluetooth module processes the digital 24 bit values for pressure and temperature and then sends the data to the smartphone, tablet or AMS Bluetooth gateway at a preset transmission interval. The gateway is based on a web page application that can be displayed in a web browser. The app is available for free download from the Google Play Store for the most popular Android devices.

Sensor’s Accuracy

Each sensor is individually calibrated, temperature compensated and tested. Thereby an accuracy of typ. ±2 mbar in the measuring range of 300 - 1200 mbar @25 °C can be achieved. The temperature accuracy is ±1 °C @25 °C. The sensor is designed for a pressure range of 300 - 1200 mbar and for the extended pressure range of 10 - 2000 mbar.

The temperature range is between 0 and 85 °C. The height resolution at sea level is about 13 cm. The radio range is about 100 m in free field.

The long-term measurement drift of the sensor is approx. ±1 mbar for the pressure per year. The typical current consumption with the factory settings is approx. 25 µA and is strongly dependent on the sampling rate and the signal transmission interval of the sensor. The preset data sampling rate and signal transmission interval is 5 seconds. The signal transmission interval is automatically adapted to the data sampling rate, but can also be individually set later via the app. The app can also be used to make further settings, set a critical pressure value and activate an alarm function.

Battery power supply

The sensor is powered by a CR2032 battery cell with battery holder located under the lid. The compressed air measurement is done via a small panel on the outer wall. Due to its small size, the sensor can be easily mounted on smooth surfaces or inside a device using double-sided adhesive tape. In addition, there is a drilled hole with a diameter of 3.2 mm on the left and right side for easy mounting. This allows the sensor to be used quickly and access the measurement data easily via the app or gateway.

AMSYS GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized company based in Germany and has been focusing on sensor technology since its founding. As an OEM supplier for sensors, we the Company specialised in pressure measurement.

As a fabless company, AMSYS relies on a close cooperation with specialized high-tech companies. The product range includes a variety of sensors that are available from stock. Thus, individually tailored solutions for the customers can be found by AMSYS.

Deliveries of single sensors, customized solutions up to large volume projects are possible.

AMSYS offer covers a wide range from piezoresistive pressure cells, over simple SMD-equipped transducers, amplified / unamplified and matched OEM sensors, PCB modules, to ready-to-use pressure transmitters. Sensors are available in pressure ranges from ± 1,5 mbar up to 1.000 bar. Of particular note are the low-pressure sensors, which are available in different versions (absolute, gage/differential and bidirectionally differential). Besides a large choice of pressure sensor types, AMSYS also offers OEM humidity sensors, temperature and inclination sensors, as well as wireless solutions.
