Associated Builders and Contractors Selects Concare for the 2011 Award for Excellence and Award for Merit
Press release from: ABC Selects Concare for 2011 Award for Excellence and Award for Merit
PR Agency: ROI Marketing
Two of Concare’s projects were selected to receive the awards.
Melrose Park, IL, Concare announced it’s been awarded the 2011 Award for Excellence and Award for Merit from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a National trade association representing merit shop contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and related firms in the United States.
Concare submitted two projects for consideration. The first project had a combination of untreated concrete, epoxy overlayments, and various other coatings applied over many years.
Critical areas were not in compliance with FDA standards. Cracks and imperfections where contaminants can accumulate needed to be eliminated. They also needed to fulfill other requirements including improving floor safety with enhanced traction for wet and dusty conditions.
Concare won this award due to detailed project management, on-time completion record, and a long history of durability and longevity. The project was completed over 4 weekends from 11 pm to 5 am, two teams working together breaking the 24 hour day into two shifts. Concare invested in specialty milling equipment removing various thicknesses and old toppings quickly, while eliminating dust particles that can get into production. The BASF Ucrete solution was chosen for its ability to control contamination.
In the second project, the client had begun making efforts to standardize the safety of their facilities. Color codes and 5S identification were utilized to distinguish between pedestrian traffic, forklift traffic as well as specific equipment within their plants. As employees travel to various plants, commonality and familiarity would be found.
To implement the safety project, the project was completed during normal business hours to gain access to the people who could adjust, modify or correct the location for the 5S markings. The project took a total of 4 days, none of which were consecutive. The UVolve® solution was chosen for its instantaneous curing abilities and immediate operational use.
“We continue to be proud of our experienced and highly trained leadmen, installers and operations manager for their outstanding performance, leadership abilities and teamwork," said Ron Puszynski, president of Concare. “It's always an honor for Concare to receive an award from ABC.”
