(openPR) - [Austin, TX – May, 2007] -- This Mother’s Day, The Renaissance Austin Hotel will host a truly unique tribute to Foster and Adoptive Moms with a “Salute to Foster/Adoptive Moms,” a complimentary Mother’s Day brunch and program that honors moms who give the gift foster children want most: a family.
May is a significant month for mothers nationally, serving as National Foster Care Month and also a time that traditionally honors mothers across the country for the Mother’s Day holiday. This year, foster and adopted children nominated their moms to be chosen to attend the special luncheon where they will be honored for being a great mom and receive a special dedication.
The luxury hotel in Austin is hosting and funding this special event for the third consecutive year in partnership with the Adoption Coalition of Texas (ACT) and their annual project - Heart Gallery of Central Texas, and the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services (DFPS). This year’s event brings a new perspective and special touch since the moms were nominated by the foster or adoptive children.
“We want these moms to realize how important their contributions are for these great kids and to our community. Plus, we are able to help some terrific kids give their Mom a special day,” stated Rob Gillette, general manager at this Texas Hill Country hotel.
The special moms and their families have reservations for their complimentary brunch at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 13, in the atrium area of the Renaissance Austin Hotel located at 9721 Arboretum Blvd. in northwest Austin. Representatives from the hotel, DFPS, ACT, and their partner agencies, as well as the foster and adoptive moms, will be available for interviews that day.
Among the 12 foster/adoptive moms chosen to attend this year’s event with their families, including their biological and adoptive/foster children, will be Mariza Brussolo and Joe Cremona, a wife/husband team who have two adopted children. Brussolo is one of several photographers who donates her talent to photograph children for The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, the traveling portrait exhibit which features children waiting to be adopted. Almost half of the honored families were involved in the Heart Gallery and will be attending the event. Also attending are two wonderful foster families who provide homes for only teenage boys, and each home fosters a significant number of those children at one time.
Foster and adoptive parents, children, and their siblings will enjoy the full luxury of the hotel’s Austin restaurant dining experience, which also features a special children’s menu. Approximately 100 people are expected to attend this year’s event. Guests will enjoy a brief program at the onset of the brunch, which will feature all of the mothers receiving certificates as well as two families being given the photos of their child as it is removed from the Heart Gallery exhibit, symbolizing the child’s union into a forever family.
Brunch will also be available at the Renaissance Austin Hotel for the general public and their families to enjoy the holiday. The hotel’s public brunch is offered from 10:30 am – 3 pm and prices are $42 per person for adults, $16 for children 6 - 12 years of age, and no charge for children 1 - 5 years.
The newly renovated Renaissance Austin Hotel is located just 11 miles or fifteen minutes from downtown, nestled in the scenic hills of northwest Austin and a gateway to the Texas Hill Country. The Austin hotel is the cornerstone to the upscale entertainment complex offered in the package, the Arboretum, which is a 95-acre park-like setting filled with over 80 shops, boutiques, restaurants, movie theaters, walking and jogging paths. With 60,000 square feet of function space, including the recently-renovated 30,000 square foot exhibit hall, the hotel is an attractive destination for both business and leisure travelers.
