Multidmedia’s Reaction to Adobe’s Announcement about Open Sourcing Flex

IT, New Media & Software
Press release from: Multidmedia Limited
(openPR) - Multidmedia Limited the creators of Flash based development software Zinc V.2.5 have been inundated with that same question over the last week or so: What is our stance on Adobe’s recent announcement about open sourcing some of the component parts of flex?

The simple answer is that MDM welcomes the decision from one of the Industry Giants; any step towards supporting the open source community has got to be a step for the good.

Flex and Zinc work hand in hand; Adobe Flex Builder 2 provides an Eclipse-based environment in which developers can easily create richer, more expressive Rich Internet Applications. Zinc 2.5 ensures that the {mdm} Script 2.0 API is available for Flex developers and that Flex projects can easily be deployed as Zinc desktop applications for both Windows and Mac OSX systems.

“The basic concept behind Adobes decision is to make Flex more appealing to developers we want to encourage external contributions, in an endeavour to involve the developer community in the greater evolution of Flex.” Said Phil Costa, Director of product management of Flex at Adobe.

Multidmedia Limited (MDM) is an industry leading multimedia software company.
