Michigan's Labor Market Not Healthy, EmploymentCrossing Finds Over 33,000 Jobs For The Unemployed

Pasadena, CA, November 17, 2011 - Michigan's unemployment rate has declined by 0.5 percent bringing it to 10.6 percent in October, as reported by Department of Technology, Management & Budget. In spite of the decline, the state's labor markets remain far from healthy

According to the state officials, this improvement in the employment rate is a result of the efforts actively put by the unemployed. The workforce by and large had a net decline of 17,000 and the total number of employed rose by 8,000. The drop has been successive for the seventh month dating back to April. The state's workforce has fallen by 1.5 percent, since March.

The decline has been prominent in government jobs and construction jobs, with both sectors seeing employment drop by 4,000. But there are other sectors making up for the decline in the workforce. Manufacturing sector added 4,000 jobs while, 3,000 jobs were added in professional and Business services and leisure and hospitality services, each. On a whole, nearly 2,000 payroll jobs were added by the state in October and 12,000 since the start of the year.
