Press release from: Black Elk Energy

/ PR Agency: Advertas
Houston, Texas –14 November 2011 – Black Elk Energy, LLC, an independent oil and gas company, announced today its collaboration with FileTrail and Microsoft®. Black Elk implemented Microsoft’s SharePoint 2010 Platform late 2010 and has taken its intranet application to the next level by implementing FileTrail for SharePoint. FileTrail had advised that Black Elk would be the first oil and gas company in the Southern region to utilize this technology and has expressed an active interest in the internal launch and development process. Microsoft® will commence a full system analysis during fall 2011 to fully understand how Black Elk is maximizing the capabilities of the intranet application with FileTrail technologies.

The FileTrail solution delivers file tracking and records management solutions using barcode and Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) technologies. The Gen2 UHF RFID technology utilizes radio waves to transmit data from an electronic label, attached to file or document, through a reader for identification and tracking purposes. These RFID tags allow Black Elk to have a firm grasp on their privileged and confidential data while affording easy access to the data to Black Elk team members. The files or documents managed by FileTrail appear in SharePoint where the records may be requested or viewed for different business processes by the Black Elk team.

“The IT and Document Management Teams of Black Elk are introducing a very resourceful and unique integrated system that will help our entire company increase efficiency and productivity,” says John Hoffman, CEO of Black Elk Energy. “This new system has expanded our ability to access and maintain documentation despite the growing numbers of members in the Black Elk family and the ever-expanding library of documentation. I congratulate the IT and Document Management Teams for taking a proactive approach to managing our internal data. This advancement is just another way that Black Elk is utilizing the newest technology to ensure our success.”
