Shotfarm Launches New Infrastructure To Support Rapid Expansion Of Free Product Image Exchange
Press release from: Shotfarm
Shotfarm, the retail industry standard for centralized product image exchange, implements new back-end technologies to enable a quicker, more secure exchange of assets within its fast-growing community of retailers and manufacturers.
CHICAGO, IL — November 16, 2011 — Shotfarm announced today the release of a new infrastructure architecture for their premiere offering, the Product Image Exchange, a free product image management and sharing platform for retailers and manufacturers. The updates precede the anticipated growth of the shotfarm community as members upload, share and request images for holiday merchandising and marketing efforts.
“Shotfarm’s user base has more than tripled in size in the last six months and we expect that growth curve to increase exponentially throughout the holiday season, especially given the viral nature of our system” says Mike Lapchick, founder of shotfarm. “These infrastructure updates ensure that no matter how quickly our community expands, our platform will continue to respond with speed and agility.”
The major changes include a broader use of cloud technologies to provide automatic scalability; increased redundancy for asset protection; expansion of data center coverage; more sophisticated load balancing and a full system security audit. In preparation for the release of their Rich Media Image Hosting service next month, shotfarm is also leveraging CDN technologies to more quickly serve their product images to ecommerce shoppers based on their physical location. The update also poises shotfarm for the rapid-fire development and deployment of forthcoming features and functionality planned for 2012.
While many of these improvements will be seamless to the end user, shotfarm members can expect to notice a more responsive front end and faster searching and browsing experience. “We’ve compartmentalized parts of our system in a way that enables it to react more immediately to user requests,” says Lapchick, “and we’ve even managed to sneak a few front-end functionality updates in that show off how streamlined the new system is.” Those user interface updates include the ability to edit asset information directly from the gallery as well as a sleek new bulk action menu.
To experience shotfarm’s bigger, better and faster system, retailers and manufacturers can join for free at www.shotfarm.com.
