Salt Lake City, Utah, October 14, 2011 - Students enrolling in the Associate of Applied Science in Business Management & Accounting at Stevens-Henager College can now choose between two new emphases.

The college has introduced the Event Planning and the Retail Sales Management Emphases to its Associate of Applied Science in Business Management & Accounting program.

Graduates of the Event Planning emphasis are trained in various aspects of planning, organizing, and managing events through courses such as Fundamentals of Event and Meeting Planning, Event Marketing & Management, and Special Events & Event Logistics. Students who graduate with the Retail Sales Management emphasis are trained via courses in Retail Sales Management, Managing Retail Teams, and Procurement, Logistics and Merchandising, all of which are designed to help provide students the skills necessary for retail sales management jobs.

Additionally, graduates of the program with either emphasis receive a solid understanding of business and economic concepts like accounting, finance, marketing, and business law through this program. They are also required to take courses to build their computer and communication skills.

The Retail Management Emphasis is ideally suited for aspirants of management or supervisory roles in retail sales. Considering the immense competition for such positions, having a relevant degree in their arsenal can be a huge plus for these candidates.

Students who graduate from the program with the Event Planning emphasis can seek employment in a variety of sectors, such as hospitality (hotels, motels, cruise lines), education, corporate, government, and non-profit. Some may also choose to work independently, as opposed to taking a salaried position.

The Associate of Applied Science in Business Management & Accounting with Retail Sales Management Emphasis is available at the Boise, Provo/Orem, and Salt Lake City/Murray campuses of Stevens-Henager College, in addition to the satellite locations at Nampa and Lehi.

The Associate of Applied Science in Business Management & Accounting with Event Planning Emphasis is also delivered at the Logan and Ogden/West Haven campus, and its satellite Layton, in addition to all the above locations.
