Fantom Magazine - issue 07
Press release from: Other Edition
(openPR) - Fantom is published out of Milan and is edited by Cay Sophie Rabinowitz and Selva Barni – based in New York and Milan respectively- and is a quarterly photographic magazine that profiles some of the most interesting offerings from the international photography scene today. Its focus is mainly on art photography and visual artists who use photography. But, it’s certainly not limited to that. The alchemy of chemical and light in all its forms is covered.
Today's headlines are simultaneously the realization of history and of present day reality. Started in 2010, Flechtner's most recent body of work, News, is an ongoing examination that questions the human imprint on nature over the passing of time, in addition to exploring collective memories, the past, and the present, as administered by public media. First cultivating a variety of seeds in his garden, and then germinating the vegetation over 100 international newspapers, each from 2010, archive. The ensuing images, however, overexposed, ephemeral microcosms, allude to a human mediation in which nature is prompted to reassert itself, gradually melding and growing over the industria world. Says Flechtner, "I'm sprinkling seeds over the newspapers; I water them and wait to see what remains. The quote of today would be, 'the excitement of today is the garden of tomorrow'." News, shown here for the first time, is part of a larger oeuvre entitled Sites, which works around the idea of man's constant intervention to construct, control and restructure fields, gardens and parks in a decorative manner. What Flechtner attempts to convey is the confluence between the human desire to master and possess nature versus the prevailing vitality of the green kingdom. Thomas Flechtner was born in 1961 in Winterthur, Switzerland. He has exhibited extensively internationally, and his work is held in several collections, including the Guggenheim Museum. To date, three books have been published, Snow, 2002; Spicegarden, 2003; and Bloom, 2007. He currently lives and works between Vallière, France and Zurich.

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
Even with 16 years of experience one discovers new things from time to time.
Congratulations!
