SEH myUTN-120 SDCardserver

SEH broadens USB Device Server product range with myUTN-120 SDCardserver for SD cards

Bielefeld, Germany (October 4th, 2011). – SEH, the German specialist for intelligent network solutions, unveils the myUTN-120 SDCardserver, a new special solution out of its myUTN brand of USB virtualisation solutions. With an SD card reader, the new product enables users to access and share storage media such as SD cards across the network. In addition myUTN-120 is equipped with a USB High Speed port for using a great number of different USB devices via the network. This new solution addresses users without access to USB devices and SD cards at their workstation (PC or terminal) for whom this would be desirable. The location-independent and flexible utilisation and management of SD cards and USB devices across the network is made safe by a broad security package including encryption, password protection, access control, port access control, port deactivation and more. The IPv6-enabled myUTN-120 SDCardserver can be operated in all Ethernet networks including Gigabit with Windows XP and higher. It is now available for about 225 Euro excluding VAT.

Many USB devices and storage media such as SD- cards are not designed for use within networks. However, there are many application scenarios which would benefit technically and economically if these media and devices were available via the network for several users.

Virtualisation of SD cards and USB devices in all networks

Often in server-based computing (SBC) and desktop-virtualisation environments there is no provision for the local usage of SD cards and storage media, making it technically difficult if not impossible. By allowing the controlled use of such storage media and USB devices via a safe point-to-point network connection across the network, the myUTN-120 SDCardserver closes the gaps between enterprise IT infrastructures and the world of USB. This opens up a variety of application scenarios for workstations without USB ports or SD card readers. Many enterprise security policies do not allow the utilisation of USB devices and SD cards. By offering a broad security package with access control, device assignment, encryption, passwork protection,, port key control and port deactivation myUTN-120 makes using these devices safer. These features used in combination allow administrators to define exactly which USB devices and SD cards can be used on each port. With the port key control function they define which users may access certain ports, and which users may access the individual ports. This provides complete control over USB devices and SD cards in a network.

System requirements and service

The myUTN-120 SDCardserver for all Ethernet networks including Gigabit (10BaseT/100BaseTX/1000BaseT) is IPv6-enabled and compatible with Windows 32/64 bit versions (Windows 7, Server 2008, Vista, Server 2003, XP). Regular and free software updates, technical support world-wide and a warranty of up to three years come with the myUTN-120 SDCardserver.
