Press release from: Wind River GmbH
PR Agency: talkabout communications gmbh
(openPR) - Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 is selected as the core platform for GosNIIAS Russian Avionics Systems Competence Center
GosNIIAS, Russian State Research Institute of Aviation System and one of the most prestigious Russian Aerospace institutes, and Wind River, the global leader in Device Software Optimization, announced their partnership to cooperate on the Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) program to achieve the common goal of a successful implementation of ARINC 653 solutions. The international IMS program, initiated and supported by RosPROM - Federal Agency of Industry, is targeting to define open standards for exchangeable hardware and software modules, build up prototypes and align development activities for aerospace applications. The IMA program will be lead by GosNIIAS for the Russian activities. Under the partnership, GosNIIAS has selected Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 as the core avionics software development environment for its Russian Avionics Systems Competence Center. The standardization on Wind River ARINC 653 solutions for this program builds a reliable foundation for modular avionics and reduces efforts for system integration and certification remarkable.
Sergey Zheltov, Director General of GosNIIAS, said: "Given the on-going restructuring of the Russian Aerospace industry and its goal to address export markets, GosNIIAS has to extend its competence towards international aerospace industry standards. Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 being a widely deployed and production proven technology, we are very pleased to benefit from Wind River's experience and expertise in this domain to accelerate the adoption of those standards by the Russian aerospace industry."
Reiner Duwe, Regional Director Central Europe of Wind River, commented: "Wind River is very proud and honored to partner with such a prestigious institute as GosNIIAS. We aim at seeing Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 adopted as the standard safety-critical software development environment by the Russian aerospace industry as it is already the case in Europe. No doubt that our tight partnership with GosNIIAS will accelerate this adoption."
Wind River Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 complies with the ARINC 653-1 standard for the development of safety-critical systems. This platform can be supplied with DO-178B certification documentation. The DO-178B standard defines the planning, development and test procedures for software deployed in aircrafts. With Platform for Safety Critical ARINC 653 manufacturers are guaranteed the ability to certify various applications with different levels of criticality.
