Press release from: Certeon

BURLINGTON, Mass. September 27, 2011: Certeon, the application performance company, today announced that its Chief Technology Officer, Donato Buccella, is speaking at Interop New York, taking place October 3-7, 2011 at the Javits Center. As part of a panel, Buccella will be reviewing the major transition in IT infrastructure from proprietary networking appliances to virtual appliance software and industry standard hardware.

In “The Great Debate: Is this the End of Physical Appliances?,” Buccella will argue that there is no longer a need for proprietary physical WAN optimization appliances in today’s enterprise. Panelists will debate whether proprietary physical WAN optimization controllers (WOCs) that have been deployed in enterprises over the past seven years continue to offer any advantages in performance, cost, scale or agility.

“With organizations virtualizing 75 percent of their workloads and 30 percent of organizations planning to implement private clouds in 2011, according to Gartner, it is essential for WAN optimization to match the flexible nature of these environments,” said Buccella, CTO, Certeon. “Solutions for virtualization and cloud computing must deliver extreme performance, scalability and flexibility, capabilities that hardware appliances can never provide. I am excited to participate in the discussion and engage with my fellow panelists in a lively debate on the hardware versus software issue.”

Interop is one of the leading business technology events and covers a range of topics from virtualization and networking to cloud computing. The event drives the adoption of technology, providing knowledge and insight to help IT and corporate decision-makers achieve business success.
