PSI and BLG Logistics Agree on Pilot Project
Press release from: PSI AG
Berlin, 22 September 2011 – The general agreement signed by the PSI subsidiary PSI Logistics GmbH and the BLG Logistics Group, together with the pilot project, serves as the basis for projects to be realised jointly in the future. Following an extensive selection process, BLG decided in favour of the PSIwms warehouse management system.
“We were looking for a system which, along with the simple ones, also covers the complex logistics requirements and puts us in the position to be able to include new sites and clients in our IT structure by ourselves. Here, PSI supports us with intelligent solutions and vast know-how,” explained Managing Director Thomas Krüger of BLG Handelslogistik GmbH & Co. KG at the signing of the agreement.
At the same time, an initial joint project was realised at the BLG Handelslogistik site in Melle with the implementation of the warehouse management system, which has already gone into operation. PSIwms is supporting BLG in storage and just-in-time delivery to customers in the consumer goods industry. Within the context of a large spectrum of articles the system also administers various customer article numbers for identical articles and manages the customer and order-specific on-demand printing such as operating instructions and picking. In addition, PSIwms automatically calculates the storage space needs, taking into consideration the loading tools, and allows for both the by-pass as well as the cross-docking procedure.
The BLG Logistics Group stands for international networks in the business sectors automobile, contract and container logistics. The group employs more than 15,000 persons at 90 sites around the world. Of these, BLG provides, with 2,000 employees at 14 sites in their Trade Logistics, custom-made planning and control of complex logistics processes, connected with the management of all the goods and the information flow.

The tailor-made logistics solutions for the specific demands of customers have three basic elements in their performance: the operative process, the individual IT components and the process management. The structure and the course of the operative logistics for the customer follow an integrated system with the elements process design, process control, assumption of responsibility and development of trust. That is why BLG depends on solid and long-term customer relationships. www.blg-handelslogistik.de
