Press release from: Managing Editor Inc.

Jenkintown, PA (September 21, 2011) — Just months after Adobe® released its Digital Publishing Suite™, Managing Editor Inc. has helped more than 100 companies join the tablet-app marketplace using DPS. MEI, an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software for the publishing industry, today announced that it has sold DPS — the preeminent solution for building immersive, reader-friendly tablet content — to a staggering variety of magazine, corporate and government customers, among other categories, who are building apps optimized for several popular tablet devices.

MEI’s constantly increasing DPS user base and Gold-level reseller status make the company Adobe’s largest distribution partner. Some of MEI’s notable new clients include NASA, Comcast, Benjamin Moore and the Mayo Clinic. In addition, several colleges have jumped on board, including Syracuse University and Marquette University.

A growing number of customers, such as biotechnology company Biomet Inc. and home automation provider Vivint Inc., have taken further advantage of MEI’s DPS expertise and stepped up to the Enterprise Edition of the system. The DPS Enterprise level offers some of the most powerful options for tablet publishing, such as the ability to build in-house applications for private distribution, as well as advanced subscription fulfillment and management with direct entitlement. MEI can also work closely with Enterprise customers to build unique HTML storefronts that drive merchandising and promote content with entirely customizable features.

“As some of the first to implement Adobe’s groundbreaking DPS, these customers are at the forefront of the tablet-app market,” said Mark Leister, senior vice president of business development at MEI. “The wide spectrum of industries and institutions they represent illustrates just how versatile this solution is for getting any type of content onto the iPad and other devices.”

Since its public release in May, more than 600 media, corporate and retail-catalog publishers and others have used DPS to create and monetize tablet experiences. DPS makes it easy for design and production teams to generate digital content using Adobe InDesign® CS5/CS5.5 and additional publishing technologies, including features for adding advanced interactivity — image sequences, panning/zooming, audio, video, social elements and more — and bundling digital layouts for publication. DPS also provides access to powerful analytics and tracking tools.

“Our diverse DPS user community proves that you don’t have to be a massive magazine publisher to release an iPad app,” Leister said. “Tablets are emerging as a crucial communications channel, and we’re offering the best tools to help any creative team get there.”
