School opening ceremony
Press release from: Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park
The development of a new elementary school in Mavue was officially completed on
August 11th, 2011. A community meeting was organized in light of this occasion, which had the representatives of the Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park meet with the village chief, representatives of the Gaza Province, representatives of the political party Frelimo, representatives of the border police and local residents.
Local residents were very excited seeing the new school and are convinced that it will bring their children a better future. They are aware of the fact that education is the basis for future development of society. GTP Director Michal Horáček says: “Our effort is focused on educating children with emphasis on language skills, but also on the support of talented children. This will give the children the opportunity to study at higher level schools through scholarships.” He furthermore stated that classes at the new school will start in early October. The official handover of the school to the representatives of the Mozambican government will take place in November.
Individual representatives of the assembly were speaking at the meeting about the possibilities of further development in child education, the needs of local residents and on further development of bilateral cooperation. The province representatives have agreed that GTP projects are currently the largest development projects in the country.
The elementary school in Mavue is the first one built under the patronage of GTP. More similar schools in the surrounding villages and other provinces are to be built as part of the child education program.
The Gonarezhou Park, which lies between Mozambique and Zimbabwe, offers you the experience of true and untouched Africa. It is Africa without compromises. Africa as it was hundreds and thousands of years ago. It is nature with no human intervention, with untouched fauna and flora. It is Africa in its entire splendor, in its innocence and unbelievable strength.
