(openPR) - Kenton Floors Ltd, manufacturer of the premium wooden flooring range Woodpecker®, is using transport specialist Rhys Davies Freight Logistics to deliver its products to customers across the United Kingdom. RDFL carry out daily collections from Kenton’s factory in Caerphilly, South Wales for next-day delivery to appointed retailers, carpet suppliers, and professional flooring installers. Orders placed online by Kenton before 3.00 pm are collected that day.

One of the key reasons Kenton Floors chose Rhys Davies as its logistics partner was the way they charge for oversize pallets and their ability to deal with additional loose items.

Jonathan Evans, Kenton Floors Warehouse Manager explained, “Our boxes are about 2m long which equates to about one-and-a-half pallets. Other carriers we spoke to calculate their charges on a two pallet basis, so we would have been paying for space we weren’t using. Rhys Davies only charges for the space we use which offers us a saving.”

“We also need to send loose items with our pallets which a normal pallet network would not be able to cope with. These can be up to 3m long and because they’re carried off the pallet they can easily get lost. Rhys Davies has the flexibility to be able to handle this and make sure everything arrives safely.”

Gary Phillips, Rhys Davies’ Commercial Manager said, “Carrying separate items is always tricky, but it’s vital to Kenton’s business so we make sure our drivers are trained to handle them. Items like skirting boards for example need to be matched up with the right delivery and there is no room for mistakes.”
