School for Startups, Founded by Doug Richard, Sends Delegate to One Young World Summit
Press release from: School for Startups
Doug Richard's School for Startups has sponsored Irina-Mihaela Mondea as delegate to the One Young World Conference September 1-4 in Zurich, Switzerland. More than 1600 are receiving advice, instruction and support from humanitarian, economic and government leaders from around the world. Bishop Desmond Tutu, despite a recent announcement of his retirement, has appeared to speak at the opening ceremonies.
Former Dragon, successful serial entrepreneur and early stage investor, Doug Richard spoke about One Young World and Irina-Mihaela Mondea recently. "One Young World is an extremely important forum for a wide variety of reasons. I'm very fond of saying that Entrepreneurship can be taught and must be learned. Well leadership is also a skill people can learn. I don't think people are "born leaders". I think some learn, earlier than most, how to lead. Perhaps it is because they are in a place where they must create consensus and show courage to survive and help those they care about. Perhaps it is because they see the world as it could be and not how it is. What I believe...what I know...is that leadership skill can be enhanced through the right instruction and mentoring. One Young World creates a place where today's leaders can connect with people who will lead their community, their city, their country, their world in the years to come. I'm proud to support One Young World and very proud to be sending a talented, hard-working young entrepreneur, Irina-Mihaela Mondea."
Irina is a freelance graphic designer from Romania working with clients across Europe. Speaking about the One Young World conference and her scheduled attendance, she said "I see this as an opportunity that presented itself at the right time...The world needs to hear young voices speak louder than the sound of a bomb exploding or a gun being fired. The recent violent outbursts which took place in the U.K., events that not only affect the people living in there but have devastating consequences all around the world, prove that we need positive change...Violence is a chapter from the past. That is were it belongs. The future is the Kingdom of Youth and no leader, no politician, no business can take it away from us. We owe it to ourselves to fight for what is rightfully ours: our young world."
Irina also spoke about Doug Richard and School for Startups, "I have learned so much from Doug and the School for Startups program, not only about business, but also about communication strategies and social media's importance in the life of a startup...Throughout my year in the School for Startups Romainia program I can truly say that both I and my business have grown, not only wiser, but stronger. I am sure we will continue to do so."
