Database RAD with DBEXform

DBEXform is the high level toolbox for databases and it is developed to create general forms to display, edit and print data. Forms and reports are built in office software look a like designer by just drag and drop components. Development and execution will be made in same interface and switching between modes is done with one click.

There are lot of different databases partially result of all kind of database development tools. DBEXform does not introduce new database engine, it offers a tool to manage with existing ones. When starting to create a new application, database connection wizard will be launched and it lets developer to select type of a database engine and connection details.

DBEXform has Sql query builder for supported databases. Form can be designed by referencing fields from many tables. Aggregate functions like sum and average can be used directly in designer. Queries for the database will be generated, based on definition of fields in design mode and also on selections made at execution phase. When executing application, changing order or values of filtering fields, will generate a new Sql query.

Programming model in DBEXform rely on state machine programming. Spreadsheet software usually is based on a same idea. When user changes value of one cell in a grid, all values, that are result of that cell, will be calculated. In DBEXform there is possible to assign dynamic values in the property editor. Values of dynamic properties are evaluated during run-time from source of formulas, queries or programmed functions. For example a color of component can changed at run-time based on value of a field.

Everything does not have to do using state machine model. There are also events for user actions. Clicking a button can raise some predefined action selected from list, or developer can program own routine. Native language is Basic, and it's possible to use other programming languages available for .Net Framework.

Supported platform in current version is Windows Forms in .Net Framework environment, using standard library components. DBEXform is a standalone software and it does not require any third party software components except database. Designed applications are stored in file system where they can be opened for designing or execution. Using mapped drives or email it is possible to share applications in a networks between users.

DBEXform is a product of Willmansoft. It can be downloaded and installed freely for evaluation purposes. Installation package is relatively small and it could be downloaded from the publisher's site.
