The Continental Group Presents Two Free Condominium Board Member Certification Courses

(HOLLYWOOD, Fla.) August 16, 2011 – The Continental Group (TCG), a FirstService Residential Management company, announced today that two free Condominium Board Member Certification Courses will be offered on the West Coast of Florida. The first course will take place on Monday, August 22, 2011, from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency located at 1000 Blvd. of the Arts, Sarasota, FL 34236. The second course will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park, located at 950 Lake Carillon Drive, St. Petersburg, FL 33716.
The free courses, part of TCG’s Continental Certified™ - or ConCert™ - series, will cover the most critical aspects of condominium operations. Topics will include: the roles and responsibilities of board members, the budget and reserve process, financial reporting, bids and contracts, records maintenance and owner records requests. Participants will also learn about Chapter 718, the Condominium Act, and its applications to their associations.
A free cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature local industry experts from several fields involved with condominiums who will also be available to answer industry-related questions. This will be followed by the ConCert™ Educational Program at 7 p.m. This course fulfills the new requirements set forth in Section 718.112(2)(d) 3.b. Florida Statutes for all newly elected or appointed condominium board members to submit a certificate of completion of an educational curriculum administered by a Division of Business and Professional Regulation-approved educational provider. Participants will receive a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion, recording that they have satisfied their requirements with the State of Florida.
