Global private tuition provider Tutors International reports increasing enquiries from parents confused by new EBacc certificate
Press release from: Tutors International
Tutors International, one of the world's leading providers of full-time private tuition, has reported increasing enquiries from parents concerned about the new English Baccalaureate (EBacc) certificate recently introduced by the government. In particular, parents of children moving into the English education system after living abroad are confused by its comparable value to the International Baccalaureate (IB). For more information, visit www.tutors-international.com or call +44 (0) 1865 435 135.
"We've been asked about the relevance of the English Baccalaureate by many families, both established clients and those making new enquiries," said Adam Caller, founder and senior partner of Tutors International. "I've had to explain that the EBacc does not have the same international value as the International Baccalaureate. I feel that the choice of wording employed by the government for this new certificate is quite misleading, and perhaps purposefully designed to create the same perception of excellence as the IB."
When asked how he describes the EBacc, Adam replied, "I explain that it's simply a system to encourage students to study core subjects, though I'm not sure why the government felt inventing a new certificate was preferable to making those critical core subjects compulsory. Many parents have asked if the EBacc is there to denote a level of excellence," Adam continued, "I simply explain that it isn't the EBacc's core purpose and there's no way to tell at this stage whether the EBacc will ever provide that."
