Van de Vries Spice Corporation Selects O2 Food ERP by Escape Velocity Systems

Boulder, CO – August 1, 2011 – Escape Velocity Systems (EVS), a Boulder, Colorado based ERP innovation group is proud to announce today that Van de Vries Spice Corporation, the leading importer, processor and supplier of premium quality ingredients to the food manufacturing, bakery supply and food distribution industries, has selected EVS to provide them with the next generation of process manufacturing software designed specifically for today’s food manufacturers.

According to Tom Schmidt, Vice President of Sales & Client Services, “We were looking for more control on the manufacturing side of our process. Prior to O2 Food ERP we were using a simple bill of materials that didn’t allow for quality controls or formulation functionality. Due to the processes used for some of the products at VdV, being able to enter formulas as required is important to us. The O2 Food ERP software will give us that control and will allow us to enter recipes and formulations to our exact specifications,” says Schmidt.

It was equally important for VdV to manage all of the formulations in a single system. Before moving to O2, all of VdV’s formulations were stored in separate systems utilizing Excel spreadsheets. Schmidt explains, “We kept all of our formulations and mix times on a separate spreadsheet system, which required us to generate two sets of paperwork. Those systems were often out of sync and presented a challenge for our manufacturing floor. With O2 Food ERP, all of our information will be located in one system, which will increase our confidence in our information,” adds Schmidt.

For VdV, the selection of O2 Food ERP will also help improve their quality control processes. “We are looking forward to an increase in quality control through the implementation of O2 Food ERP. Our industry is highly focused on quality, and O2 will give us the ability to manage all of our quality documents within the software. Being able to lock down specific lots on quality hold and getting approvals will really help our processes,” states Schmidt.

In addition, VdV is looking forward to having full formulations in the system and building cost components into the products. “With O2 Food ERP, we will be able to include multiple cost components into the building of our products. Capturing these components in our full product cost will be a great asset for us,” adds Schmidt.

VdV wanted to find a company to help them successfully implement their new ERP system. “EVS and the O2 Food ERP system came highly recommended from another MAS 500 contact.
